Daimler, Rolls-Royce commit to further MTU brand power development

Rolls-Royce Power Systems’ MTU business will continue to work with Daimler on developing and building high-speed Series 1000, 1100, 1300 and 1500 units that comply with the EU Stage V off-highway emissions standard. The engines deliver 100 to 480 kW and are to be available well ahead of the EU Stage V emissions standard scheduled for 2019. It will prescribe for engines, machinery and equipment a reduction not only in soot particulate mass but also number. MTU engines are to meet the more stringent emissions limits by deploying an additional diesel particulate filter. Further in-engine innovations will also be instrumental in lowering fuel consumption.

Carr Bros. adds up fuel savings from revolution-optimizing mixer drum control

With founding-family members at the helm since 1892, Cleveland-based Carr Bros. has demonstrated a capacity to adapt to the changing nature of the concrete business, including current efforts to reduce fuel consumption. The producer recently worked with Schwing America to identify prospective savings using the manufacturer’s SMART Drum technology. The electronic wireless control system nets longer drum life, higher quality concrete, improved safety conditions, and reduced fuel consumption when measured against standard mixer trucks.

The Fusion Hybrid-Process plant brings to ready mixed concrete production what CEI Enterprises characterizies as precision coarse-aggregate blending to curtail voids and enable mix designs of lower, more optimized cement dosages. A multi-bin blending unit at the plant’s core holds up to four grades of coarse aggregate in individual feeder bins. Each has its own conveyor to feed measured amounts of a certain aggregate onto a full-length collecting conveyor below.
