Master Builders brand, Construction Chemicals frame new owner to the letter
BASF Group has completed the long-planned sale of its Construction Chemicals business, including Admixture Systems, to MBCC Group, a Mannheim, Germany entity backed by private equity investor Lone Star Funds. The BASF Construction Chemicals office and lab in Beachwood, Ohio, will serve as an MBCC Americas region headquarters.

ACI has elected 40-year member Jeffrey Coleman, principal of an eponymous Minneapolis law firm, as 2020-21 president. An Institute Fellow, he has served on the ACI Board of Direction and as a member of Committee 301, Specifications for Structural Concrete, plus Construction Liaison, TAC Specifications, Financial Advisory and Conventions Committees, and chaired Responsibility in Concrete Construction, now Committee 132. Prior to obtaining a law degree, he practiced as a structural engineer with Ellerbe Associates, a predecessor to a firm now under AECOM. BASF projects a third quarter 2020 closing on the $3.5 billion sale of its Construction Chemicals unit to an affiliate of Lone Star, a global private equity firm with offices in Frankfurt, Germany and New York. A subject of speculation since a late-2018 BASF announcement of plans to shop the business, the transaction will include Master Builders concrete admixture and sister brands deeply rooted in construction, maintenance and retrofit.
