Governor Rick Scott has announced five appointments—one new member, four incumbents, all for terms running through June 2018—to the Florida Concrete Masonry Education Council (FCMEC), an organization authorized by Sunshine State lawmakers and funded by a voluntary check-off program among major and independent block producers.
Ronnie Pruitt has joined U.S. Concrete Inc. as senior vice president and chief operating officer, a new position charged with direct oversight of ready mixed, aggregate and ancillary operations in New York and New Jersey, Texas and Oklahoma, and California. His 20-plus years’ industry experience was gained primarily at Dallas-based Texas Industries Inc., where he served as vice president of Cement Production and vice president of Sales & Marketing, Cement and Aggregates Divisions. Following nearly a quarter century of measured growth, Owell Precast owners and management have chosen Olympus Precast as the new name of their Bluffdale, Utah, architectural and structural product operation. Located just outside Salt Lake City, the producer is a key Intermountain market source of Spancrete hollow core plank, plus precast fence, wall and sound wall products.
Two months after entering the Texas market for volumetric mixer-delivered concrete through a deal for Custom-Crete, U.S. Concrete Inc. subsidiary Redi-Mix LLC bolted on the fleet and sites of Scofield Construction Services, LLC and Mobile-Crete of South Texas, LLC. Operated collectively as Mobile-Crete, assets acquired include five volumetric ready-mixed concrete facilities and 47 mixers servicing Austin, San Antonio, and south Texas markets. They join Custom-Crete’s 60 volumetric mixers and 11 plants Redi-Mix took over in October, netting site-mixed production in Austin, San Antonio and Dallas/Ft. Worth.
Oldcastle Materials Inc. appointed Kirk Randolph to executive vice president, Strategy and Development, leading the acquisition and integration of new businesses, while spearheading growth initiatives.

Eyeing prospects for its namesake prestressed plank and wall products throughout the Southeast, Spancrete is upgrading a Newnan, Ga., plant. The producer projects full operation in January and a near-term payroll up to 40 at the property, located about 40 miles southwest of Atlanta.

Waukesha, Wis.-based Spancrete has named Per Faivre director of Construction Services, where he will focus on implementing the producer’s commitment to increasing value for customers and maximizing efficiency through all phases of the precast project. Faivre will oversee and direct project managers, superintendents, erection crews, subcontractors and related services. A civil engineer with a degree from the University of Illinois, Faivre previously worked as the precast division leader at Area Erectors, Inc., based in Rockford, Ill.
