Spancrete elevates three company veterans to executive leadership team

Precast/prestressed concrete building solutions and hollow core machinery specialist Spancrete has promoted Scott Bertschinger to executive vice president, Kimberly Wacker to senior vice president and Todd Backus to senior vice president and chief financial officer. All will be based at Waukesha headquarters, near Milwaukee; report to principal and CEO John Nagy; and, have responsibilities encompassing Valders, Wis., Crystal Lake, Ill., and Sebring, Fla. concrete operations, plus Waukesha machinery production.

LafargeHolcim has acquired Tarrant Concrete Co., which operates three ready mixed plants on two sites, and builds on a Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex platform created under Holcim (US). With 90 employees and annual sales hovering $40 million, Tarrant Concrete becomes the first bolt-on transaction in domestic ready mixed production since the Aggregate Industries U.S. and Holcim (US) businesses, along with Lafarge North America, were brought under LafargeHolcim Ltd. in the 2015 Lafarge Group and Holcim Ltd. merger.

Wieser Concrete Products has promoted Andy Winkler to general manager of its Maiden Rock, Wis., flagship plant, tasked with leading safety, marketing, sales, administrative and service groups. Winkler joined the company 16 years ago and has been in the precast industry his entire career—completing tours of duty in production, delivery, installation and sales, while also playing a pivotal role in the safety program. Beyond the plant, he is Minnesota Onsite Wastewater Association president elect and National Precast Concrete Association Safety, Health and Environmental Committee member, and spearheaded an initiative that saw the Wisconsin Precast Concrete Association premier a boom truck certification class earlier this year.

Martin Marietta Materials has named James A.J. Nickolas senior vice president and chief financial officer, effective this month. He succeeds the retiring Anne Lloyd, who will remain with the producer through September, capping a 12-year term as CFO. Nickolas most recently led the Caterpillar Inc. Corporate Development Group, following CFO tours of duty at the manufacturer’s Resources Industries segment and Global Mining division. Prior to Caterpillar, he was executive director of J.P. Morgan Securities.
