Pacific Southwest Concrete Alliance (PSCA) has recognized 34-year construction industry veteran Brent Coulson with its first annual Promoter of the Year Award. A collaboration of six associations in California and Nevada, PSCA initiated the award program to honor individuals whose industry contributions further Alliance aims, including promotion of portland cement concrete for paving, residential and commercial buildings, as well as public work infrastructure.
For the past three years, Coulson has served as a technical sales representative for Euclid Chemical, covering the northern regions of California and Nevada. In addition to participating in the Concrete Promotion Council of Northern California, Sierra Nevada Concrete Association, National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s Pervious Concrete Subcommittee, and the NRMCA task force to develop a strategic plan for pervious concrete promotion, he is working with the city of Fresno, Calif., in its Fresno Green initiative to implement sustainable building practices. Accordingly, Coulson has cooperated with the city to demonstrate the value of pervious concrete parking lots; presented to city engineers the advantages of using concrete whitetopping over asphalt to improve durability and reduce the life-cycle cost of streets and roads; and, explained the benefits of insulated concrete forms to Fresno officials and area builders.
The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association has named Texas Industries’ Barrett Reese 2008 Promoter of the Year, an award presented at the NRMCA Annual Convention in Las Vegas. Serving on multiple industry boards, committees, subcommittees, task forces and groups, Reese has furthered the concrete and cement industries for more than 40 years in his career at TXI.
