Hanson’s El Mirage, Ariz., plant has been in testing phases toward a scheduled Oct. 3 grand opening, with festivities to include a formal donation to Phoenix Children’s Hospital through the Children’s Miracle Network. The first facility of its kind in the West, the 110,000-sq.-ft. plant is managed by Chris Ortiz and employs approximately 35.

Automated pipe production, curing and testing equips the plant for average daily output of 500 tons, representing a significant capacity increase for a long-established operation. Pipe is produced on a three-station, rotary turntable Hawkeye PipePro XT machine, which includes modules for creating varying diameters of product simultaneously.

“This new facility will allow us to offer a range of products under one roof,” said Sue Tanenbaum, president of Hanson’s Western Region, based in Portland, Ore. El Mirage is one of 12 operations in the region, which also has plants in California, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
