Entergy ash contracts hold 2 million tons’ potential for Charah Solutions

Charah Solutions has secured a multi-year marketing contract for fly ash and bottom ash from Entergy Louisiana’s Nelson Power Plant in Westlake, plus Entergy Arkansas’ Independence and White Bluff Power Plants in Newark and Redfield. Over the next five years, the combined scope of work is anticipated to include over 2 million tons of ash sales for beneficial use, transported via truck or railcar to regional markets. The coal combustion products will be distributed throughout Charah Solutions’ MultiSource materials network of 40-plus nationwide locations, with international sourcing and distribution. A unique distribution system of terminals and processing facilities, the network provides a continuous and reliable supply of supplementary cementitious materials for concrete producers and other customers.

Charah, utility extend ash management contract for two Ohio power plants

Charah Solutions has secured a byproduct sales and material handling contract extension for the Luminant Miami Fort and Zimmer power plants in southern Ohio. It will continue to manage and market the facilities’ coal combustion products, including all specification grade Class F fly ash.

Charah raises $88 million in initial public offering

Fly ash marketer and coal combustion byproducts management specialist Charah has begun trading on New York Stock Exchange under the symbol, CHRA. In a June 14 initial public offering, the company and key stockholders raised $88 million through the sale of 5,294,117 and 2,058,824 shares, respectively. The pool represents an approximately 23 percent stake in a business that reported 2017 sales of $430 million from two segments: Environmental Solutions, anchored by fly ash and bottom ash management and marketing contracts at coal-fired power stations; and, Maintenance and Technical Services, geared to fossil fuel- and nuclear-powered facility operators.

Charah moves MultiSource network north with Michigan ash contract

Fly ash processor and marketer Charah has secured an exclusive agreement covering coal combustion products from the Consumers Energy J.H. Campbell complex in West Olive, Mich. It will sell the facility’s Class C fly ash to Great Lakes concrete and cement customers, and also move material through its MultiSource terminal network serving Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, South, Mountain and West regions. Charah will also market the generating station’s bottom ash for such applications as Class 1A backfill, cement kiln raw feed, and lightweight aggregate or flowable fill mixtures.
