Reported carbon dioxide and methane emissions from large industrial sources were approximately 9 percent lower than in 2019, reflecting both the economic slowdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and ongoing, long-term industry trends.

Charah, utility extend ash management contract for two Ohio power plants

Charah Solutions has secured a byproduct sales and material handling contract extension for the Luminant Miami Fort and Zimmer power plants in southern Ohio. It will continue to manage and market the facilities’ coal combustion products, including all specification grade Class F fly ash.

Boral Resources has acquired marketing rights for fly ash produced at two large coal-fueled power plants in Mexico, their combined annual output equating to a potential 1 million-plus tons of Class F fly ash for distribution throughout the western United States. The plants are Carbon II in Nava, Coahuila, located approximately 25 miles from the Texas border and accessible by truck or rail; and, Petacalco in Petacalco, Guerrero, located on Mexico’s Pacific Coast and accessible by rail or barge.
