U.S. precast concrete producers accounted for more than $25.8 billion in revenue and $5.1 billion in worker wages in 2022, employing approximately 102,000 individuals at 2,700-plus plants, a new National Precast Concrete Association report finds. Behind topline and payroll trajectories, authors track producers’ 6.9 percent growth rate from 2018 to 2022, a trendline ahead of similar construction value chain providers.
“Understanding and quantifying [our] impact at the local, state and federal levels is an important step in showing why precast is the No. 1 choice when it comes to rebuilding U.S. infrastructure,” affirms NPCA Chair Joel Sheets (Tindall Infrastructure).
The U.S. Precast Concrete Market Report includes data and statistics obtained from NPCA member and non-member operations, compiled along with U.S. Census Bureau figures by Ohio-based Industry Insights. Researchers from the firm illustrate the breadth and depth of precast concrete applications across six product segments accounting for about 85 percent of industry shipments: Sanitary & Stormwater, representing nearly one-third of all volume, followed by Utility & Industrial, Landscape & Building, Transportation, and Water & Onsite Wastewater.
An eight-page report summary is posted at www.precast.org/IndustryData. The full document with state-by-state breakdown is available free of charge to NPCA members or for purchase by non-members..
’WORLD’S GREATEST’ VISITS NPCA
NPCA Chair Joel Sheets discussed utility structure production and the broader precast industry in “World’s Greatest” series Episode 344, aired on Bloomberg Television and streaming at worldsgrreatesttelevision.com. How2Media selected NPCA as a prime example of an international trade association positioning members to be more competitive through technology, innovation, workforce development and education. “Since 1965, NPCA has helped precast manufacturers to continually monitor, manage and improve product quality, becoming the best in the business,” said Sheets, who opened Tindall Infrastructure’s Spartanburg, S.C. flagship plant to How2Media crews for extensive footage of advance precast production methods.
