The Charles Pankow Foundation has named Anne Ellis, P.E., FACI, F.ASCE and past-American Concrete Institute president, as special advisor to the board of directors. She will work with Executive Director Mark Perniconi on a major new initiative to rally support for practical research advancing innovations in building design and construction.
“Anne is a respected powerhouse in our field,” says Foundation Board President Richard Kunnath. “Her structural engineering background, leadership in the concrete industry, and business acumen will be a huge asset to expanding our reach.”
Now in its 13th year, the Charles Pankow Foundation funds research and development positioning the architectural/engineering/construction industry to be more efficient and cost competitive. It urges businesses, institutions, and individuals to join its mission in advancing innovation, creativity, and collaboration in the AEC industry.
Mike Caldarone has returned to the Skokie, Ill., headquarters and laboratory of CTLGroup as principal engineer, tasked with supporting Materials and Consulting team efforts in the field or office. His responsibilities will include conducting engineering analyses and investigations to provide consultation; generating business to ensure group profitability; exploring and developing new markets; and, mentoring and coaching junior staff. He will also assist in developing proposals, including project scopes, budgets and schedules; managing multiple projects within a specified timeline and budget; and, scheduling, coordinating and delegating project work.
The International Concrete Repair Institute has hired a charter, full-time certification manager. A past ICRI director, Steven Bruns, P.E. joins the staff to help implement a strategic plan calling for certification and educational programs. Bruns is charged with enlisting partners and chapters to market and promote ICRI certification programs to their members and audiences, and advance Institute certification in industry or project specifications and codes.
