The S 65 SX is the Schwing America’s new flagship and longest boom model. Set for 2018 World of Concrete premier at the entry of the Las Vegas Convention Center Central Hall, it incorporates a five-section boom with uniform 5-in. diameter pipeline, plus the manufacturer’s Overhead Roll and Fold design. In addition to providing 210 ft. 8 in. of vertical and 197.5 in. of horizontal reach, all 65SXs come standard with the EASy one-sided outrigger system, minimizing pump footprint on crowded jobsites. The Super X telescopic front outrigger spread is balanced with rear slewing outriggers, which centers the hopper when set up in EASy configurations.
“Our customer advisory council had significant input into this design, and it was clear what they wanted[:] maximum reach in a five-section boom with 5-inch pipeline and versatile outrigger system,” says Schwing America Vice-President of Sales & Marketing Tom O’Malley. The S 65 SX, he adds, “is the most refined long boom in the world. The number of pre-orders indicates demand to be high.”
The new model retains the twin cylinder 2525H-6 120/85 MPS all-hydraulic concrete pump recently upgraded with Symmetrical Switching, which provides faster Rock Valve switching for smoother operation and less boom bounce than prior models. The S 65 SX has as standard the Big Rock with extended housing for better filling efficiency of the 10-in. diameter material cylinders. Large diameter, long stroke pumping cylinders provide high volume while operating with fewer strokes per minute for less wear. Output is 213 yd./hour with a maximum pressure on the concrete of 1169 psi.
BOOM OPERATING BREAKTHROUGH
Beyond the new flagship machine, Schwing will demonstrate what company engineers contend is a breakthrough in concrete placing boom technology. World of Concrete visitors can take the controls for an interactive experience at the company’s outdoor booth (C5398), located between the Central and South halls.
Schwing has been first with the telescoping boom S 31 XT and currently markets the S 38 SX, the only boom with hyper articulation on all five boom sections. “Revolutionary is a strong word,” says O’Malley, “but when contractors and operators interact with the 36-meter boom they will be amazed at the possibilities.” The third and fourth sections each have 360 degrees of articulation owing to patented direct drive technology.
At the main Central Hall Booth (C5126), Schwing will feature an array of truck-mounted or stationary concrete pumps, truck mixers, and the new Loop Belt truck mounted telescopic conveyor. — Schwing America Inc., www.schwing.com
