Petro-Canada brands diesel engine lubricant series for new API specs

Petro-Canada Lubricants’ Duron next generation oils are formulated to meet American Petroleum Institute CK-4 and FA-4 specifications, officially launching December 2016. The company calls Duron its most durable, high performance heavy-duty diesel engine oils, and will offer the line in four performance tiers: HP (High Performance), SHP (Super High Performance), UHP (Ultra High Performance) and Advanced. The former three will meet API CK-4, the successor to CJ-4 oils and suiting most on- and off-road engines, while Duron Advanced stands as Petro-Canada’s fully API FA-4 product, formulated to maximize fuel economy in primarily long haul trucking.

Petro-Canada bills the Duron Performance and Advanced series oils as leading “the industry towards the right solution to consistently deliver durability, improved fuel economy and extended drain intervals.”

Duron has been engineered to exceed advanced OEM engine performance requirements for ultimate protection and fuel efficiency, Petro-Canada reports, and is “formulated using leading-edge lubricant technology to combine the best additives with the purest base oils.”

“We had a clear vision to create the world’s toughest heavy-duty diesel engine oils and with Duron have delivered,” contends Howard McIntyre, vice president, Lubricants for Petro-Canada parent Suncor. “The product line has been built on world class technology and with an approach that doesn’t compromise durability, strength and efficiency.” — Petro Canada Lubricants, Mississauga, Ontario; www.duronthetougherthebetter.com
