The CIM National Steering Committee grossed more than $615,000 at its seventh annual auction, held during World of Concrete earlier this month at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The signature item was a Mack Granite with 11-yd. McNeilus mixer, Tim Ashley of Clovis Concrete, New Mexico, the winning bidder.
“The 2013 auction equaled our highest gross proceeds total ever,” affirms Auction Committee Chairman Mike Phillipps (Cemex). “This is a great example of the high value the concrete industry places on the CIM program. We had a record number of donated Auction items and attendees that helped make this year’s event a huge success.” Funds will support CIM programs at Middle Tennessee State University (charter), Arizona State University; California State University, Chico; New Jersey Institute of Technology; and, Texas State University, he adds.
“We were fortunate to have the incredible support of the World of Concrete show management, Hanley Wood Publications and Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers,” notes CIM Marketing Committee Chairman Brian Gallagher. “We thank McNeilus, Mack Trucks, Somero Enterprises, and the numerous [other] companies that donated items to the Auction to make it a complete success.”
CIM had record proceeds of over $50,000 in this year’s silent auction, staged in the two hours leading into the live event on World of Concrete day two. Auction items included cement truckloads, saws, drills, mixers, vibrators, safety equipment, screeds, fiber transport systems, dust collectors, decorative concrete tools, water meters, pumps, generators, training sessions, reference books, laptops, and sports or leisure travel packages.
