U.S. House and Senate candidates on fall ballots can commit to supporting transportation and water works funding in the next Congress through the Infrastructure Campaign Pledge, the latest initiative in AEM and AED’s Start Us Up USA! grassroots effort. Those signing and returning the pledge will be added to a list of leaders who join AEM and AED in recognizing a link between future prosperity and a modern infrastructure system.
Candidates must take the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to building America’s future by signing the pledge. Those seeking to serve through higher office must lead the way in securing sorely needed investments for our roads, bridges, and water systems,” says AEM President Dennis Slater.
“The [112th] Congress must lay a solid foundation for America’s growth and economic future, while creating a cleaner environment and better quality of life for all, adds AED counterpart Toby Mack. Support for America’s infrastructure yields immediate benefit by jump-starting a struggling economy and creating much needed jobs.”
The Infrastructure Campaign Pledge follows five Start Us Up-organized rallies and caravans of “idle equipment” in major cities during the past year, each highlighting the equipment industry’s dire economic conditions and the country’s need for sustained highway and water infrastructure investment.
