CRH has announced the resignation, effective July 31, of its most seasoned senior manager this side of the Atlantic, Oldcastle Chief Executive Tom Hill. Replacing him will be Mark Towe, who in July 2006 succeeded him in the same capacity with Oldcastle Materials.

The transition was announced along with Hill’s resignation from the CRH board, effective June 25. Hill climbed the Materials Division ranks from Callanan Industries, an Albany, N.Y., aggregate and asphalt producer Oldcastle acquired in 1985. From the mid-1990s through the decade forward, Hill oversaw MaterialsÌ ramp up as a national operator with top five positions in U.S. aggregates, ready mixed, and asphalt production.

Towe joined Oldcastle Materials as chief operating officer in 1997, bringing more than two decadesÌ experience in aggregates and asphalt production. He will assume his new position and join the CRH board July 31.

Replacing Towe is Doug Black, who since July 2006 has been Oldcastle Materials president and COO. He joined the company in 1995, rose through the Oldcastle Precast ranks, and was Oldcastle Architectural Products Group CEO prior to the Materials shift. His successor, Bill Sandbrook, has been appointed chief executive of Oldcastle Products & Distribution, responsible for the Architectural Products, Precast, Glass, MMI and Distribution businesses.

The North American management team changes follow the recent designation of Dublin-based Myles Lees, CRH chief financial officer, successor to Liam OÌMahony, who is retiring as chief executive at year’s end.
