Top ASTM Honor To NRMCA’s Lobo

In addition to centennial observances in Toronto, ASTM Committee C09 recognized NRMCA Senior Vice President of Engineering Colin Lobo with the Award of Merit and ASTM Fellow title. As the Society’s highest individual recognition, the award is based on nominations from peers citing candidates’ service on a range of levels. The committee underscores Lobo’s “outstanding contributions to technology transfer, specifications for concrete materials, test methods for fresh and hardened concrete, evaluation of data, and assessment of laboratories.”

Crews deploy real-time pavement smoothness technology on Texas’ DFW Connector, a design-build project of Northgate Constructors, Kiewit-Zachry joint venture.

In an effort to reduce costs, increase pavement quality, and minimize travel delays caused by road construction, the Federal Highway Administration, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), and Transportation Research Board will help agencies implement a tool that allows contractors to identify concrete pavement surface irregularities during construction.
