U.S. precast concrete producers accounted for more than $25.8 billion in revenue and $5.1 billion in worker wages in 2022, employing approximately 102,000 individuals at 2,700-plus plants, a new National Precast Concrete Association report finds. Behind topline and payroll trajectories, authors track producers’ 6.9 percent growth rate from 2018 to 2022, a trendline ahead of similar construction value chain providers.

“Understanding and quantifying [our] impact at the local, state and federal levels is an important step in showing why precast is the No. 1 choice when it comes to rebuilding U.S. infrastructure,” affirms NPCA Chair Joel Sheets (Tindall Infrastructure).

The U.S. Precast Concrete Market Report includes data and statistics obtained from NPCA member and non-member operations, compiled along with U.S. Census Bureau figures by Ohio-based Industry Insights. Researchers from the firm illustrate the breadth and depth of precast concrete applications across six product segments accounting for about 85 percent of industry shipments: Sanitary & Stormwater, representing nearly one-third of all volume, followed by Utility & Industrial, Landscape & Building, Transportation, and Water & Onsite Wastewater.
