Sensor-enabled maturity monitoring technology suits Kryton

Integral concrete waterproofing specialist Kryton International, Inc. has acquired a 30 percent interest in Sensohive Technologies ApS of Odense, Denmark, becoming the company’s largest shareholder and exclusive North American Maturix technology distributor. Sensohive sensors and software equip contractors and engineers to wirelessly monitor concrete hardening in real time from most any interconnected device.

Beyond its admixture portfolio, Kryton Intl. holds North American market rights to the Sensohive technology, which allows quality control managers and engineers to track concrete maturity remotely and customize reports generated from cloud-relayed data.

“Maturix technology represents a significant leap forward in construction efficiency and productivity,” says Kari Yuers, chief executive officer of Vancouver, B.C.-based Kryton. “The ability to monitor concrete strength from remote locations helps expedite construction schedules, optimizing efficiencies, reducing costs and improving safety. This acquisition is consistent with Kryton’s goal of helping contractors build faster and smarter through innovation.”

“Kryton has a long history of success and a well-earned reputation for quality and trust in the global construction industry,” affirms Sensohive CEO Casper Harley. “We value their substantial experience in bringing innovative technologies to the concrete construction market.”

Real-time monitoring of concrete structures is an evolving industry practice, he adds, made possible through the rapidly expanding Internet of Things—the interconnected digital network allowing everyday objects to be embedded with electronics collecting and sharing data. Maturix technology runs on the world’s largest IoT network, Sigfox 0G, whose long-range and low-power demand allows Sensohive’s sensor batteries to last up to 10 years.

“Real digital transformation will take place in the construction sector through the association of major players such as Kryton, Sensohive and Sigfox, each an expert and disruptor in their field,” observes Sigfox Chief Adoption Officer Raouti Chehih. In contrast to more conventional products that require a technician to visit a jobsite and record measurements in close proximity to embedded devices, he adds, Maturix deploys thermocouples and reusable temperature sensors affording real-time connectivity and remote monitoring of concrete maturity and strength. Data is automatically collected every 10 minutes and transmitted wirelessly to the cloud with information available in various report formats.
