A partnership with Connecticut-based CiDRA Concrete Systems positions Sika Corp. to offer ready mixed producers the drum-mounted, sensor-laden SMARThatch, which provides air, temperature, material volume, revolution counter and hydraulic pressure slump correlation data on in-cab display or cloud-based dashboard.

“SMARThatch is changing the way ready mix producers run their operations. Real-time information allows quality control teams to expand their coverage, catch problems early, and adjust loads on the fly,” says CiDRA Concrete Systems President Scott Anderson.

“Customers can now have ‘real-time’ air measurement from batch plant to job site,” adds Sika Vice President of Concrete Tom Strittmatter. “This technology offers many financial and operational benefits, from reducing rejected loads to providing continuous measurement of the entire load versus a sample size using traditional manual test methods.”

Sika announced the partnership during the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s ConcreteWorks 2019 conference, October 5-7 in Orlando. CiDRA’s Doug Loose discussed the SMARThatch platform in a presentation titled “Real-Time Concrete Quality Measurement from Batch Plant to Job Site.” SMARThatch features AIRtrac Mobile, an extension of automated air measurement technology CiDRA has parlayed thus far in precast concrete production.
