Through its domestic Lafarge, Holcim and Aggregate Industries businesses, LafargeHolcim is supporting the Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) program to provide U.S. Army veterans workforce opportunities after their service. The partnership is part of a recruitment option allowing students to simultaneously serve and prepare for their future.
“A workforce recruiting pathway focused on military veterans is a natural fit for our business due to the skills and values that align with LafargeHolcim, including teamwork, performance, accountability and a focus on health and safety,” says LafargeHolcim Vice President, Organization and Human Resources Denise Devereaux. The company employs hundreds of military veterans across the U.S., she adds, and will soon launch a Buddy-to-Buddy program for newly hired veterans plus a Manager’s Guide to help build and sustain a veteran-informed culture.
PaYS allows employees to work alongside Army recruiters and ROTC programs in grassroots initiatives to mentor future soldiers and professionals. Partners guarantee job interviews and possible employment to future soldiers and ROTC cadets after their time in the Army. The organization also works with individuals on resume improvements, interview advice and building strong qualifications. While serving, soldiers learn technical skills that can be translated to many industries, including construction materials production.
