Sika Corp. has opened a new mortar products line alongside an expanded admixture facility near Philadelphia. The former is the second such investment in the past two years, and dovetails the company’s March 2015 acquisition of mortar processor and marketer BMI Products of Northern California Inc.

“We are continuing [to invest] in growth drivers such as mortars … expanding our supply chain, sales force and marketing efforts,” says Sika Regional Manager, North America Christoph Ganz. “Strengthening our presence close to booming megacities will continue to be our focus in 2016. We are planning to open two new plants in North America, one in Canada, the other in the U.S. This will allow us to generate further growth potential.”

Parent company officials see a network of 18 North American admixture, mortar and building compound operations as ideally positioning Sika Corp. to take advantage of improved market conditions underpinned by commercial and infrastructure project activity.
