EVO maintains all the benefits of its predecessor, the Dura-Bright wheel with XBR technology, while exhibiting a 10-fold gain in resistance to corrosion caused by road salts and weather elements, and greater resistance to chemicals found in truck- cleaning agents. The durability characteristics enable the use of a wider variety of cleaning solutions to simplify maintenance, while preserving the wheel’s integrity and brightness.
Compared to surface coatings that can crack, peel, corrode and dull quickly, Alcoa engineers note, the Dura-Bright EVO affords years of shine without the need for polishing. Dura-Bright is not a coating, they add, but rather a surface treatment that penetrates the aluminum and becomes an integral part of the wheel. Regular cleaning with common truck-washing products or mild soap and water will keep wheels shiny, even after hundreds of washes and thousands of miles.
All Alcoa wheels are milled from one piece of forged aluminum, making them lighter and stronger than steel wheels, while increasing prospective payload and fuel efficiency. Dura-Bright EVO is for orders shipping in August on LvL ONE 22.5- x 8.25-in. and 24.5- x 8.25-in. wheels; all remaining North American fitments will shift to the new treatment in January 2016. — www.alcoawheels.com
