The American Concrete Institute-affiliated ACI Foundation has announced the establishment of a new fellowship in honor of the founders of the ACI Foundation Fellowship Program – ACI Past Presidents Daniel L. Baker of Baker Concrete Construction, James R. Cagley of Cagley and Associates, and Thomas D. Verti of Pankow and the Pankow Foundation.
The announcement was made during the ACI spring convention at the Tribute to the Fellowship Founders event, where Baker, Cagley and Verti were honored for “their vision, dedication, and service in launching and sustaining the ACI Foundation Student Fellowships.” The new fellowship in their honor will be awarded to a deserving student beginning in 2015, and brings the total number of fellowships available in 2015 to 10.
The ACI Foundation offers fellowship and scholarship opportunities to students whose studies relate to the concrete industry; awards range from $7,000 to $10,000, and are granted to high-potential undergraduate and graduate students who are studying engineering, construction management, or other related fields of study in the area of concrete. Fellowship applicants must be nominated by a faculty representative who is also an ACI member. Those students receiving Fellowships also receive paid travel and registration to two ACI Conventions, assignment to an industry mentor, and a summer internship, in some cases.
