PCI announced that Level I and Level II Quality Control Schools now test from the third edition of TM-101, which launched in mid-October. This edition rebalances Level I and Level II curricula, better aligning personnel certification with the training requirements of the different categories of PCI Plant Certification. These updated schools will be offered at the 2012 World of Concrete (WOC), January 23–27 in Las Vegas at a discounted/member rate.
The new Level I curriculum focuses on conventional reinforcement, covering the subject in more depth than the previous curriculum. Additionally, architectural concrete topics and basic mixture design concepts have migrated from Level II into Level I. All prestressing content is now in Level II. There is no impact to any current Level I or Level II certification as a result of these changes.
The PCI schools’ schedule is as follows: PCI QC Technician/Inspector Level I, January 23, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (school), January 24, 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. (exam); PCI QC Technician/Inspector Level II, January 24, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (school), January 25, 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. (exam); PCI QC Technician/Inspector Level I/II, January 23–24, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (school), January 24, 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. (exam – level I), January 25, 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. (exam – level II); PCI Industry Erection Standards Course (IES) and Exam, January 24, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., January 25, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.; and, CFA: PCI Certified Field Auditor Training (CFA)/IES and Exam, January 23–24, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., January 25, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. More information on the specific courses can be found www.pci.org/schools.
