Through a strategic partnership with Indiana Phoenix announced at the opening of ConExpo-Con/Agg, Continental Mixers LLC will add a new front-discharge mixer to complement its line-up of integrated rear-discharge models. The Continental front models will be available in the fall and manufactured for an interim period by Indiana Phoenix, which will remain active in the glider market.
Continental Mixers will leverage Indiana Phoenix’s 20-plus years in the front-discharge business while integrating the International truck brand’s components and engineering expertise. Notes General Manager Steve Guillaume, “By integrating the chassis and powertrain from our commercial vehicles, we’re able to offer a machine with unparalleled performance, reliability, and durability backed by an expansive network that understands how to support both mixers and vocational chassis.” In the 13 months since rebranding Continental Mfg. under Continental Mixers, he adds, 29 Navistar dealers spanning 24 states have geared up to sell and service rear and front discharge mixer trucks.
The Continental front-discharge mixers will run MaxxForce 11 or MaxxForce 13 big bore engines with ratings up to 430 hp. Utilizing MaxxForce Advanced EGR emissions technology, the manufacturer notes, they will benefit from a significant weight advantage with no need for liquid urea tanks or the selective catalytic reduction after-treatment other truck OEMs are deploying for EPA 2010 diesel engine emissions exhaust rules.
