Eight locally owned landscape supply companies have branded a unified message–Bring their outdoors to life–and launched www.HardscapeSTL.com, to offer St. Louis metro area homeowners an alternative to big box retailers. Competition’s tough, but good for our customers, says Kirkwood Material buyer David Kopp. [Working] with our competitors to increase market awareness for outdoor living products [makes] sense. It’s something we all felt like homeowners and the members of the group could benefit from. We donÌt have six- or seven-figure marketing budgets, but working together we can collaborate our efforts.
The website provides homeowners information and tools to create great landscape projects from start to finish, he adds. Homeowners can browse through design ideas, follow step-by-step installation instructions, and view do-it-yourself project videos, or receive tips on hiring the right contractor. HardscapeSTL.com participants will dispatch free-of-charge product specialists or contractors to help homeowners find the right product, color and design for a job.
The Bring their outdoors to life theme will anchor an advertising program running through June. Joining Kirkwood Material in the promotion are Wholesale Landscape Supply, Earthworks Inc., Erosion and Drainage Products, Semco Stone Co., World Outdoor Emporium, Buchheit Supply and Sonnenberg Landscape.
