Drawing on expertise behind global concrete landmarks Û Canada’s Confederation Bridge (1997) and the Denmark-Sweden Oersund Link (2000) Û Los Angeles-based iCrete LLC has formulated a family of mix designs for marine applications, especially those with extended service life requirements. The bridges were built to survive some of the roughest salt water passages in the Northern Hemisphere and are considered engineering marvels, largely because of the sturdy concrete mixes and advanced technology used in their construction, affirms iCrete Chief Scientist Dr. Per Just Andersen.
Since bridges and tunnels may extend miles from point to point, carrying traffic and freight across national borders and international waterways in good weather and bad, notes iCrete President Tom Schneider, our newest mixes are specially designed to withstand the assault of even the most hostile saltwater environments. The new mix family joins a schedule of high-performance concretes iCrete promotes through licensed producers in North America and overseas markets.
