The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association is accepting through Nov. 28 abstracts for candidate presentations at the 2009 Concrete Technology Forum: Focus on Performance Prediction, May 14-15 in Cincinnati. The symposium and product expo will assemble researchers and practitioners to address latest advances, technical knowledge, continuing research, tools and specifications involving test methods and modeling to predict concrete performance and service life.
Researchers, engineers, contractors, concrete producers, public works officials, material suppliers and concrete professionals are invited to submit abstracts and attend the symposium. Proposals can be submitted on line at www.concretetechnologyforum.org.
Topics encouraged for consideration fall under several headings: (1) Hardened Concrete properties Û durability, permeability, strength, stiffness and creep, shrinkage and cracking, abrasion resistance, density, thermal characteristics, chemical resistance, and reflectance; (2) Concrete applications Û self consolidating concrete, pervious concrete, roller compacted concrete, high strength concrete, high early-strength concrete, green building, blast/fire/seismic resistance, hurricane and tornado resistance, and innovative applications; (3) Plastic concrete properties Û finishability; workability; pumpability; setting time; shrinkage, cracking and curling; uniformity; and, early age strength; and, (4) Performance prediction Û computer-based simulation, empirical models, service life models, early-age testing, nondestructive testing, quality-control methods, quality-assurance methods, forensic evaluation, and performance specifications.
