As part of the formal International Concrete Exposition launch, NCMA announced a letter of intent with Milwaukee-based Association of Equipment Manufacturers, whereby Icon Expo will co-locate with the 2011 ConExpo-Con/Agg in Las Vegas. Details of the arrangement are under discussion, although Icon Expo stands to be staged as a pavilion within the larger ConExpo-Con/Agg concrete area. During the 2002 and 2005 ConExpo-Con/Agg events, show manager AEM consolidated most concrete industry exhibitors in the Las Vegas Convention Center’s new south hall, a venue that could accommodate the additional Icon Expo presence.
Presently, NCMA will serve as the Icon Expo show manager, overseeing schedules and the trade show business, although the arrangement with AEM and ConExpo-Con/Agg might spawn other management options. In a parallel to Icon Expo, AEM has assumed management of the National Asphalt Pavement Association’s annual World of Asphalt. That annual event is typically staged in March in warm-climate cities, but co-locates with ConExpo-Con/Agg on three-year cycles.
