A sister company of Oldcastle Architectural and Oldcastle Precast Û key players in block, brick and architectural and structural concrete panels Û has closed on the Vistawall Group, a vertically integrated manufacturer of architectural aluminum glazing systems, including storefronts systems, doors, curtain wall, operable windows, glass skylights, and translucent roof and wall systems.

Oldcastle Glass of Santa Monica, Calif., completed the $190 million deal with Australia’s Blue Scope Steel, which inherited Vistawall as part of a buyout of metal building system mainstay, Butler Manufacturing, in 2004. Vistawall provides scale and a national footprint with sales in all 50 states, and is the cornerstone of our growth strategy to be the market leader in engineered products used to close the building envelope, says Oldcastle Glass CEO Ted Hathaway.

Following last month’s transaction closing, Oldcastle Glass will integrate with Vistawall its current architectural aluminum glazing systems businesses: Southwest Aluminum Systems in Chandler, Ariz.; Fulton Windows in Toronto; and, Texas Wall Systems in Dallas and National Retail Systems in Austin. Our Engineered Products division, with annual sales of more than $500 million, is positioned for growth from bolt-on acquisitions, investments in state-of-the- art equipment, and new manufacturing locations, said Hathaway.

We expect to dramatically improve our efficiencies and service levels through sharing of Best Practices between our locations. Oldcastle Glass has the financial resources to invest in our growth, and they have shown strong commitment to providing a safe and exciting workplace for our employees, adds Vistawall President Tom Harris, who will lead Oldcastle Glass’s Engineered Products division.

Vistawall’s main manufacturing facility and headquarters are in Terrell, Texas. The company has 19 service centers throughout the U.S., supported by manufacturing and engineering facilities located in Greeneville, Tenn.; Newnan, Ga.; Warwick, R.I.; Modesto, Calif.; Wausau, Wis.; and, Bloomsburg, Pa.
