Hanson Structural Precast announced in late April the purchase of Cheyenne Concrete Co. and its Eagle Precast Co. and Alpine Crane & Rigging subsidiaries. An architectural precast and structural precast/prestressed concrete producer, Eagle Precast has plants in Salt Lake City (headquarters), plus Caldwell, Idaho. Alpine Crane and Rigging serves Eagle Precast and other companies in the Salt Lake City area.
Eagle Precast is the premier architectural concrete products manufacturer in the Intermountain West region. Its products have earned certification in all of the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute’s product categories, a distinction few U.S. operations can claim, notes Hanson Building Products North America President Richard Manning. This acquisition is a testament to the importance of the architectural and structural precast segments of the growing precast market.
With a payroll of 250, Eagle produces such architectural units as precast spandrels and column covers, glass fiber-reinforced members and custom sections used for commercial and institutional projects; structural offerings include hollow-core plank and wall panels, bridge girders, double tees, wall sections, pilings, bleacher seats and riser sections, and column and beams. The acquisition provides Hanson a key architectural/structural precast company in the fast growing Intermountain West, says Hanson Structural Precast President Ed Wopschall, who is based in Irwindale, Calif., and will be responsible for the Eagle properties.
Eagle Precast is the second precast/prestressed operator Hanson Building Materials North America has acquired this year, following an asset deal in February for the former Sherman Prestressed Concrete Division, Pelham, Ala.
