The Tilt-Up Concrete Association is accepting abstracts of 45- to 60-minute candidate presentations for its 2007 Tilt-Up Convention, Oct. 3-6, in College Park, Md. Citing the theme Tilt-Up Û It’s A System, the association invites presenters to submit approximately 100-word abstracts, plus a listing of main objectives, biography, and a summary of tilt-up and speaking experience. Topic ideas include detailed building cost comparisons, time-savings analysis, life-cycle costing, scheduling, engineering efficiency, selling to educational boards, case studies, and design options. After the TCA Education Committee reviews abstracts, selected presenters will be notified and scheduled. Each speaker will receive a $500 honorarium and free convention registration. Submissions should be sent via e-mail to James Baty, TCA Technical Director, [email protected].
The three-day Tilt-Up Convention will feature intensive training and education seminars for participants in concurrent sessions. A construction demonstration or MegaDemo and an indoor exposition will showcase product innovations serving the industry.
The convention also serves as another venue for the Tilt-Up Supervisor’s Certification exam Û a joint program of the TCA and the American Concrete Institute. The examination consists of a closed-book, two-hour written test with 80 multiple-choice questions. More information about the exam can be obtained by calling 319/895-6911. TCA Convention registration can be completed by visiting www.tilt-up.org and selecting the event from the Calendar menu.
