Holcim (US) Inc. unveiled the Envirocore family of cementitious materials at the U.S. Green Building Council’s Greenbuild 2006 International Conference and Expo, Nov. 15-17 in Denver. Envirocore spans nine pozzolanic, blended and specialty binder products, numbered 1000 to 9000, each processed or formulated to replace varying levels of portland cement in concrete and mortars. The family includes GranCem, a well established brand that will remain but carry a companion Envirocore 7000 designation.
Holcim officials staged the announcement alongside colleagues from sister operations, Aggregate Industries Management, Bethesda, Md., and St. Lawrence Cement, Montreal. The company has begun promoting the Envirocore line across its U.S. operations. St. Lawrence is scheduling a 2007 launch for the Northeast and Canada.
In addition to Holcim (US), Greenbuild Expo exhibitors included Cemex USA, Essroc Cement, Lehigh Cement, National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, Portland Cement Association, and Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute. Greenbuild is the key annual gathering for the U.S. Green Building Council, the Washington, D.C., organization promoting the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system. Greenbuild 2007 is scheduled for Oct. 17-19 in Los Angeles.
