Hilti bolsters workhorse adhesive anchor

Manufacturer has announced engineering improvements to its HIT-RE 500 anchor system, including a 60-plus percent increase in published load performance, lowest installation temperature in the industry, and ICC approval for cracked and uncracked concrete and all seismic zones.

The HIT-RE 500 V3 is the first and only epoxy to cure in freezing temperatures with a temperature range of 23°–104°F, product engineers note, and has the shortest cure times for any epoxy. The compound suits applications such as structural connections with post-installed rebar, misplaced and/or missing rebar substitution, and structural steel connection anchoring.

HIT-RE 500 V3 also has what the company contends is highest published load capacity of any epoxy in the industry; along with HIT-HY 200, it is the second ICC approved system with the SafeSet hollow drill bit. Coupled with VC20/40 vacuum, the SafeSet allows contractors to perform chemical anchoring applications efficiently and reliably with no required manual hole cleaning.

When used with the new TE-YRT roughening tool, HIT-RE 500 V3 suits both cracked and uncracked concrete diamond-cored holes, and greatly reduces the cleaning typically required for cored-hole installation. The HIT-RE 500 V3 is packaged in 11.1-, 16.9- and 47.3-ounce foil containers, each pairing with the electric HDE 500 or manual HDM 500 dispensers. — Hilti, Inc., 800/879-8000, www.us.hilti.com/re500v3; Hilti (Canada) Corp., 800/363-4458, www.hilti.ca/re500v3
