Insteel agreement paves American Spring Wire exit from PC strand

Insteel Industries anticipates a mid-August closing on a $36 million deal for the prestressed concrete strand business of Ohio-based American Spring Wire Corp. Subsidiary Insteel Wire Products Co. is acquiring ASW’s Newnan, Ga., production facility and equipment, plus equipment at a second PC strand plant in Houston. Insteel Wire will lease the latter facility.

Adam Mainka has been promoted to director of Plant Operations at Heldenfels Enterprises Inc. (HEI)

Adam Mainka has been promoted to director of Plant Operations at Heldenfels Enterprises Inc. (HEI), overseeing all production activities at the company’s San Marcos and Corpus Christi, Texas, sites, with combined payroll of 225. He joined the producer in 2009 as a quality control technician and was subsequently promoted during his first two years, to QC supervisor, then QC manager, combining the latter post with San Marcos plant manager duties. Mainka holds Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute Level III certification, co-chairs the PCI Productivity Committee and is 2014 Leadership PCI Program Committee chair.

PCI reinforces standards development with ANSI accreditation

Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute has been accredited as an American National Standards Institute standards developer. A first for an organization in manufactured concrete, the accreditation positions PCI’s voluntary consensus documents relating to the design, detailing, fabrication, transportation, and erection of precast and precast/prestressed concrete to be registered as American National Standards.
