CTLGroup has appointed Dennis McCann, Ph.D., P.E., vice president and chief operating officer, succeeding Tim Tonyan, who has left the Skokie, Ill., testing and engineering organization. Dr. McCann has been a key member of the leadership team since joining CTLGroup as a principal engineer in 2011, leading efforts in structural performance assessment or monitoring and failure investigation. His technical expertise includes structural dynamics and mechanics, as well as risk and decision analysis.

ASTM International C09 Committee on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates has honored University of Texas at Austin doctorate candidate Bruno Fong-Martinez, and University of California, Berkeley graduate student Vincent Wenzel with Katharine and Bryant Mather Scholarship awards. Both students were recognized for studies related to the concrete and concrete aggregates field. Fong-Martinez has a career concentration in concrete materials, and Wenzel’s concentration is structural engineering and civil materials. Fong-Martinez holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Cornell University and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Wenzel holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
