High performance slab-on-grade and pavement specialist Rabine Group reports the first North American installation of the PrimeComposite Concrete Flooring System, combining proprietary finishing methods plus mixes rich in admixtures and steel fibers. As the foundation of a Lakeville, Minn., metalworking facility, the 6-in. thick, 182,000-sq.-ft. slab was finished in August, free of control joints and saw cuts. Following a 14-day cure, owner BTD Manufacturing Inc.—a component fabricator for Caterpillar, Cummins, Daimler, Deere, Terex and other heavy equipment manufacturers—placed the facility in service earlier this month.

EPA sheds paper in revised NPDES reporting rule

With an eye to modernizing municipality and industry reporting, the EPA is set to issue a final rule requiring Clean Water Act-regulated entities plus state and federal regulators to electronically relay National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) data instead of filing paper forms. The measure will also augment an agency goal of making facility-specific inspection and enforcement history, pollutant monitoring results, and other NPDES permit data publicly available at www.epa.gov.

Oshkosh President and COO Jones to succeed CEO Szews

The parent of rear and front discharge mixer truck leader McNeilus Cos. has announced an executive transition, effective January 2016: Wilson Jones, president and chief operating officer, will replace Charlie Szews as chief executive officer. Since his 2005 appointment as Oshkosh Airport Products Business Unit vice president and general manager, Jones has held executive vice president and president posts in the Access Equipment (JLG) and Fire & Emergency (Pierce) segments—companions to the Commercial segment over McNeilus. In addition to the CEO appointment, he will replace Szews on the Oshkosh board.
