NRMCA’s Garbini, Northwestern’s Shah to address European Ready-Mixed Congress

Northwestern University Civil Engineering Professor and Center for Advanced Cement-based Materials founding director Surendra Shah will keynote the ERMCO Congress XVII, June 4-5, in Instabul, with “Advances in Concrete Science in the last 50 years.”

North American delegates scheduled to join him on the program are National Ready Mixed Concrete Association President Robert Garbini, presenting “Product Transparency: North American Experiences toward EPDs, CSRs and HPDs for Concrete” and “Initiatives in the United States to Improve Concrete Quality;” NRMCA Vice President, Sustainability Tien Pien, “Enhancing Community Resiliency with Ready Mixed Concrete;” and, Grace Construction Products veteran Ara Jeknavorian, “A Holistic Perspective on the Role of Concrete Admixtures for Sustainable Concrete Construction.”

Their presentations are among 60 Congress organizers have scheduled under themes Sustainability of Concrete Solutions; Contribution of Concrete to Society; Advances in Concrete Production and Use; and, Marketing and Management. The Turkish Ready-Mixed Concrete Association is hosting the event at the Istanbul Military Museum, coupling the four tracks with a materials and equipment exhibition.

A federation of 20 ready mixed concrete associations spanning European Union and neighboring countries—from the United Kingdom to Turkey to Israel—plus NRMCA and five other associate members across the globe, ERMCO organizes the Congress on three-year cycles. — www.ermco2015.com; www.ermco.eu
