Vulcan names Hill, McPherson executive VPs; Shepherd to number two post

Vulcan Materials’ executive management succession process will continue the first of the year with the elevation of Senior Vice President, South Region Tom Hill to executive vice president and chief operating officer, and his East Region counterpart, John McPherson, to executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Hill will direct the operations of the entire company and further develop in a senior corporate role along with McPherson, who will also leverage management strengths honed during a long tenure with top business consultant McKinsey & Co. Hill succeeds Danny Shepherd, who will become vice chairman, supporting and advising Vulcan Materials on organization, business development and succession planning. McPherson succeeds Dan Sansone, who will serve as executive vice president – Strategy through retirement at the end of 2014.
