Oldcastle Building Products has gained expansive territory in block, hardscape and precast products, acquiring one of Canada’s top manufactured-concrete operators and staking claim well beyond Quebec and Ontario, markets its Permacon business serves.

Announcing new ownership, Expocrete Concrete noted how its brand and assets will provide Oldcastle “the foundation to drive growth and future investment within this important region of the country. We are very excited to become part of the Oldcastle family, which brings the opportunity to better serve customers and provide employees additional career opportunities … We look forward to the next phase of our development, from a regional business to a North American business within the Oldcastle companies.”

An Allan Block and RisiStone licensee, Expocrete has concrete masonry lines and/or precast production at six Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan plants, plus sales offices in those provinces and the U.S. Pacific Northwest. Atlanta-based Oldcastle consummated the transaction with Tricor Pacific, which acquired Expocrete in late 2007, and grew the business with 2008-2009 deals for Weldon’s Concrete Products Ltd., Saskatchewan, and CCI Industries, British Columbia.

Expocrete positions Oldcastle Building Products—spanning the Architectural and Precast businesses—with 400-plus locations and upwards of 14,000 employees across 43 states and six provinces.
