With 30-plus ready mixed plants in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana and Tennessee, Jackson, Miss.-based Delta Industries has outlined a transition plan for retiring President and Chief Executive Officer Dave Robison, naming as his successor Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer J. Thomas Evans, Jr. Robison has been with Delta for 47 years, 25 at the helm, and chaired the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association in 2012. Evans has held his present roles for 25 years as well; his responsibilities are being split with the appointment of Lance Bonner as executive vice president and chief financial officer, and Lester Howell as senior vice president and chief operating officer.

Cemex USA officials assembled just after Labor Day in Brooksville, Fla., to mark the producer’s first U.S. admixture blending and packaging facility. The automated, 21,000-sq.-ft. plant will ultimately supply nearly 160 ready mixed plants throughout the Florida and Mid-South regions, shipping up to 16 normal or high range water reducers, setting accelerators or retarders, air-entraining agents and specialty agents by tote.

Ashley Smith, president and chief operating officer of Virginia’s Smith-Midland Corp., has been appointed 2017-18 National Precast Concrete Association chairman—a post his father and company co-founder, Rodney Smith, held in 1980. Ashley Smith has been involved with NPCA on various product committees and task forces throughout his career and served on the board since 2011. His one-year term began last month at NPCA’s 52nd Annual Convention in Atlanta. Smith-Midland was founded in 1960 and has been an NPCA member since 1971.
