RMC, Pankow Foundation directors anchor “Women in Industry” webinar

RMC Research and Education Foundation Executive Director Julie Garbini and Pankow Foundation Executive Director Anne Ellis will lead “Women in the Industry,” an April 23 webinar continuing dialog they initiated at “Women Building Amazing,” a Command Alkon 2018 Elevate conference breakout session. Among topics they will discuss are challenges of being a woman on the job; applying for construction jobs; double standards and gender pay gap; and, how women and men complement each other in the workplace.

Concrete Industry Management students at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), Murfreesboro, recently placed fresh mixes in a U-shaped concrete wall section formed the day before, continuing the ASCC Education, Research and Development Foundation-funded “Evaluation and Examination of ACI 347.3R ‘Guide to Formed Concrete Surfaces’” project.

Developed at the Texas Transportation Institute, “Design Methodology for Subgrades and Bases Under Concrete Roads” and “Parking Lots and Test Methods & Results of Erosion Potential of Commonly Used Subgrade and Base Materials” are the culmination of research on best practices for identifying potential erosion problems before pavement is placed, and avoiding costs in overdesigned subbases.
