Metromont will build on its position as one of the premier precast/prestressed concrete operators in the Southeast and lower mid-Atlantic markets in a planned acquisition of Shockey Precast Group. Based in Winchester, Va., the latter specializes in parking structures, mission critical structures and wall enclosure systems for owners, developers and contractors throughout the mid-Atlantic region, and will operate under its legacy banner as a Metromont division.

Metromont will cap a nearly $9 million investment in architectural and structural product capacity with the transfer of fabrication from a Charlotte, N.C., plant to expanded Greenville County, S.C., operations. “While we’ve seen much success with our Charlotte plant over the years, we feel that consolidating our North and South Carolina operations will allow us to improve our production efficiency and quality control and ultimately, better serve our customers,” says Metromont Carolinas Vice President & General Manager Chuck Gantt.

On the heels of a major new precast/prestressed operation in Bartow, Fla., Metromont has taken a majority interest in West Palm Beach-based Royal Concrete Concepts (RCC), a modular precast systems specialist. “The investment allows us to further diversify our business with additional building systems and grow in other market segments,” says Metromont CEO Rick Pennell, adding that one of the biggest draws to RCC is its “management team, passion, and ability to execute.
