Germany’s Liebherr and Designwerk have developed the first fully electric concrete mixer trucks with 10- or 12-m³ drums on a five-axle chassis. The models are scheduled to premier later this year in Holcim and KIBAG fleets in Switzerland, where five-axle mixers with 40-tonne GVW are legal.

Liebherr Concrete Technology has announced North American market availability of the RIV 2.5 D Ring-Pan mixer, equipped with separate motors driving the main shaft and mixing arms plus agitator rotors. Rotational speeds of the shaft (7 to 34 rpm) and agitator (51 to 232 rpm) can be adjusted to specific concrete mix designs, and set at different rates for dry or wet loads and discharge cycles. Variable mixing control features make the model especially suited to high performance concrete.

Amid start up of its 2 million ton/year Port-Daniel–Gascons mill in eastern Quebec, McInnis Cement has outlined an Atlantic provinces distribution plan anchored on the acquisition of two CRH Canada terminals serving New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
