NPCA solicits producer input on OSHA boom truck operator certification

A 10-question NPCA survey is aimed at helping address the Occupational Safety & Health Administration’s impending crane operator certification rule. Though the rule does not take effect until 2017, NPCA notes potential issues with one of the certification exams because it tests on knowledge of larger cranes that require more complex load chart calculations than the boom models typically used in precast delivery. The association seeks survey participation from U.S. and Canadian members, as boom truck operator certification would apply to producers in the latter country shipping to job sites over the border.
