Oldcastle APG builds scale in packaged dry mix, mortar, compounds
Acquisitions, greenfield developments and plant upgrades have allowed Oldcastle APG, a CRH Company, to build a footprint in packaged materials matching ones that sister CRH Americas operations command in precast, ready mix, aggregates and portland cement.

Oldcastle APG plans to commence work on a 27,000-sq.-ft. dry mix operation and warehouse at an existing concrete paver plant in Cowpens, S.C. A new 11-silo batch system and dual bagging lines, scheduled for late-2020 completion, will support high volume output of Sakrete and Amerimix brand concrete and mortar products.
An educational effort by Amerimix, the bagged product brand in Oldcastle Architectural’s Echelon Masonry portfolio, encourages block and brick building professionals to “Ditch the Sand Pile” and embrace pre-blended mortar, which can be mixed 50 percent faster and provide economic and time advantages on the jobsite compared to field mixing. The latter method requires cement and lime to be mixed with sand (usually in a pile), while eyeballing the right material combination, avoiding clumps or having the fine aggregate compromised by weather or environmental factors.
A comprehensive re-branding initiative for Amerimix, Oldcastle Architectural’s pre-blended mortar, grout and stucco offering, includes new messaging and a new logo to be incorporated throughout all communication elements. The initiative is part of a sustained commitment towards helping masons and plasterers “build better” with the company’s product line.
