After assimilating the Verifi in-transit mix monitoring and adjustment technology that accompanied its 2022 acquisition of GCP Applied Technologies, Saint-Gobain is looking to the next step in concrete quality control: Real-time monitoring of slab, structure or element matrix temperature and strength development. The company has acquired Maturix of Denmark, a wireless concrete maturity device and technology developer with a roster of building and infrastructure projects across markets in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific Region. The Maturix platform enables contractors to streamline their concrete placement and forming schedules, track actual mix performance against pre-dispatch expectations, and optimize mix design binder volumes.

An embedded temperature and strength development-monitoring sensor, Nova works in conjunction with thermocouple, transmitter, communication hub and software in the Maturix product suite.

Saint-Gobain spearheaded a digital transformation in concrete production and practice with the Verifi platform, which prior to the GCP deal had seen deployments in markets mirroring those of Maturix. “By combining the data and digital expertise of Maturix and Verifi with Saint-Gobain’s leadership in concrete admixtures, we will unlock new use cases for the Group’s customers,” says Verifi CEO Sid Singh. “We will provide them with personalized recommendations to manage their operations with increased visibility and precision to reduce their costs and environmental impact.”

The Saint-Gobain investment caps a sales and distribution partnership between Maturix and Paris-based Chryso SA. Announced in 2019, it facilitated Maturix device uptake leveraging Chryso’s global customer network. Saint-Gobain officials have tasked Maturix and Verifi teams with developing a joint offering for ready mixed concrete producers and contractors.
