Ryan Chandley, MBA, will shift from Thomas Concrete Inc. senior vice president to chief executive officer next month, overseeing a regional powerhouse in ready mixed production, with Atlanta headquarters and 85 plants across Georgia and Carolinas divisions. He succeeds the retiring Alan Wessel, who will transition to a senior advisor role.
âWe continue to pursue strong growth in the U.S. market, where Ryan has been a driving force during his seven years at the company,â says Hans Karlander, CEO of Thomas Concrete Group AB in Göteborg, Sweden. âWith a strong focus on safety, improved processes and profitability, Ryan has contributed to position us as the concrete specialist in the U.S. He challenges the norm and encourages team members to think creatively, constantly seeking new solutions and more efficient ways of working. His positive attitude makes others growâmaking him the natural successor for the CEO role.â
âAfter more than 11 years of a fantastic leadership, deep commitment and contagious enthusiasm, weâre happy that Alan Wessel will remain involved as a strategic advisor ⊠A sincere thank you to him for impressive contributions,â he adds.
The U.S. business accounts for nearly two-thirds of revenue for Thomas Concrete Group, whose home base ready mixed, aggregate and cement distribution operations serve Sweden, Norway, Germany and Poland. Karlander attributes the U.S. subsidiaryâs stable growth in recent years to a strong team culture and positive leadership. He is tasking Chandley and Atlanta colleague, Chief Financial Officer Fredrik Höglund, with steering the U.S. organization toward a vision where Thomas Concrete is perceived as best in its industry.
Chandley arrived at Thomas Concrete in 2017 after extended Cemex USA and Ready Mix USA tours. Following four years as sales manager, he was promoted to his present post, Georgia Division senior vice president, spearheading business development efforts and customer focus initiatives that delivered significant performance improvements.
