The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute invites mill and fabricator members to participate in the development of its next industry-average Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). The current EPD will expire in August 2027, and the next edition will require over a year of coordinated data collection and review. Participation involves submitting facility-specific data to a third-party Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) consultant as part of a transparent and standards-compliant process under the Smart EPD Product Category Rules.
The initiative is critical to ensuring that CRSI continues to provide credible, industry-wide sustainability benchmarks for reinforcing steel products. Widespread mill and fabricator involvement will help ensure the final EPD is representative of the North American marketplace. CRSI requests participants in 2027 IA EPD data collection complete an intent form, posted here, by July 31. Additional details on the declaration update can be obtained from CRSI Sustainability Manager Parisha Chanodia, P.E., S.E., 847/517-1200; [email protected].
