Kenworth arrived at the ACT Expo in Anaheim, Calif. with a battery electric version of its most popular model for concrete mixer and dumps. The T880E runs on the Paccar ePowertrain platform, delivering between 365-470 hp continuous power and up to 605 hp peak with 1,850 lb.-ft. of torque. A central drive eMotor allows for wheelbase flexibility and lift axle installations. Factory-installed options for high and low-voltage ePTO ports can be used to power equipment, a mechanical ePTO or body configurations in conjunction with aftermarket body upfitters. Four battery-string options allow operators a customizable charging range for trip or duty cycle distances of 100 to 250-plus miles. A DC charge port affords a 350-kW peak rate and can charge up to 90 percent in approximately two hours. Kenworth dealers are booking T880E orders for late-2025 deliveries.

Like the diesel flagship model, the T880E is offered in set-forward or set-back front (shown here) axle versions, both with multi-piece hood construction.

“The T880E marks a milestone as we bring to market the first Class 8 battery-electric solution built for vocational applications,” says Kenworth Assistant General Manager for Sales and Marketing Kevin Haygood. “As the industry adapts to evolving regulations, customers want access to a broad selection of products and technologies. Our comprehensive lineup of high-performance diesel, natural gas, and zero-emission vehicles allow us to provide solutions for every customer need, now and well into the future.”
